A Biblical Prediction of Global Pollution
by Marshall Beeber
Introduction
The issue of global pollution has created much  debate in the last few decades.  Some of the suggested actions though  would cause our global economy to be significantly altered.  In an  attempt to rise above the politics of the day, let us look at the Bible  and Biblical commentaries to gain a better perspective on this pressing  issue.

The  Bible not only gives mankind an offer of spiritual regeneration, but  also instructs us how to be "stewards" of this earths bountiful  creation. The definition of "steward" is "one who manages another's  property, finances, or other affairs".  That is a very accurate  definition, since mankind does not own the earth or it's eco-system, but  is given charge of it from the Lord.  It is obvious from the dire  environmental condition of this planet, that mankind has done a  miserable job at the stewardship of this earth.

The  Hebrew prophet Isaiah gave a dire prediction of the eventual judgement  of mankind for violating its covenant with God regarding its eartly  responsibilities towards our environment.  Whether this judgement will  be in our lifetime or our children's lifetime shoud be of great  concern.  We must not neglect our call for "stewardship" desipite what  seems to be an inevitability.

Isaiah 24:3-6
3 The earth shall be utterly laid waste and utterly despoiled; for the LORD has spoken this word.
4 The earth mourns and withers, the world languishes and withers; the heavens languish together with the earth.
5 The earth lies polluted under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left.
